Teaching Occupation in Tanzania in relation to Professionalism


Leo tena nimeamua kukuandikia ujumbe mwalimu wa Tanzania.Hata hivyo mjadala huu unaweza pia kujadiliwa nasi wote katika jumuia yetu. Mwalimu, nasikia eti zile kauli "zilizopendwa" za ualimu ni wito zinaendelea kupeperushwa hewani.Uzushi huo na wanaodai hivyo usiwasikilize hao!!!!!! Mwalimu,Mobile phone ndiyo iliyonifanya nipate msukumo wa kukuandikia ujumbe huu.Hapo juu nimekuasa usiwasikilize wanaodai kuwa "ualimu ni wito" kwa sababu zifuatazo.Juzi nilipokuwa narudi nyumbani nikiwa katika usafiri wa jumuia kaka mmoja alikuwa akiongea kwenye simu yake ya kiganjani.Sehemu ya maongezi yake alisema hivi,Nanukuu;
.."Yaani wewe hata ualimu tu umekosa?Kwani
ulipata pointi ngapi? eti!! pointi 30?Acha kuzubaa wewe nenda kasomee ualimu!!..
.."

walimu! eti ualimu ni wito! nani kasema?kwangu ualimu ni kazi kama kazi kazi nyingine.Labda sasa naanza kufikiri kauli mbadala kuhusu Ualimu.Inawezekana ualimu ni taaluma ya watu walioshindwa maisha!!!?yaani watu waliokosa mwelekeo wa maisha .Kama hivyo sivyo,ni kitu gani kinapelekea watu kufikia hatua ya kusema ".......hata ualimu tu umekosa......"?

Mwalimu! sitaki kuisadikisha nafssi yangu kuwa wewe ni mchovu na umeingia kwenye taaluma ya Ualimu kwa kuwa hukuwa na uchaguzi mwingine wa kufanya maisha mtaani.Kama hivyo ndivyo kwako,Tafadhali usipoteze muda wako bure,AMKA FUNGASHA UENDE!!!!
Nasema tena na tena wajamane! Ualimu ni taaluma kama taaluma nyingine.Ukijaribu kujimuvuzisha katika Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary(1998) a profession is defined as a paid occupation,especially one that requires advanced education and training.Na kama ulikuwa haujui,ualimu ni taaluma pia yenye sifa na vigezo karibu vyote vya kazi ya kitaalamu kama Carr & Kemmis(1986) wanavyojaribu kubainisha sifa za kipekee za taaluma.Wanasema;Nanukuu.
"........First of all,a profession consist of members whose methods and procedures of working are based on a body of theoretical knowledge and research. Secondly,a professions have ethical codes which govern their members to ensure that they work with commitment towards the well-being of their clients. Thirdly,in order to make sure that they always work to serve the interest of their clients,professions reserve the right to autonomous judgment free from external non-professional control and constraints..."

Ijapokuwa kuna vigezo vingine vingi vinavyopaswa kuzingatiwa katika kuainisha kazi za kitaaluma,bado nasisitiza kuwa Ualimu ni taaluma kama taaluma nyingine .


Samahani mwalimu nisije nikakuchosha ukashindwa kufanya lesson preparation.Hata hivyo naomba unipe dakika chache ili nimalizie ujumbe wangu.Mwalimu! mimi kwa haraka haraka na kwa akili zangu kidogo nimejifunza kitu fulani ambacho walimu tunapungukiwa nacho.Walimu wa Tanzania hatuna chama cha kitaaluma.(Professional Body).What we have is just a trade union(CWT) which have got nothing to do with professionalization of the teaching profession.
Mwalimu ,katika kufikiri nini cha kufanya ili kuipa hadhi taaaluma ya ualimu hapa nchini tujifunze from other professional bodies like that of engineers,medical doctors or NBAA.Kwa kufanya hivyo labda tutaweza kuwazuia watu wasio na taaluma ya ualimu kuthubutu kufanya maamuzi mazito kuhusu mabadiliko ya mitaala ya elimu nchini kama tulivyopata kushuhudia siku za karibuni.

Mwalimu,am very sorry as I am getting confused as I don't know what am I writing.But what I know for sure is that I am writing to mwalimu wa Tanzania.As long as you have the lesson plan,lesson notes and the teaching aids,Please get ready for lesson presentation and lets meet again next time on the discussion about "CWT na Mustakabali wa Elimu na Ualimu Tanzani"
